Memorial quilt is also called as "Album Sampler Quilt". This quilt was made for memories of American pioneer history. American pioneers who migrated west to join in settling and developing new areas used to make quilt blocks, and bring them home for commemoration. This is a collaboration quilt by American pioneers. Memorial quilts often included scraps from the lost person's clothing. In other words, memorial quilts were so called as presentations of wrapping people's heart in the memory, and autographs were often included by quilters.
Since typical Memorial quilts were made through people's memorabilia carrying their own set of emotions, existing quilts tend to be heavily used. This is one of very few precious quilts still in good condition.
