Barbara Fritchie is a legendary civil war heroine who died at advance age of 96 years old. During the civil war, she waved the Union flag out of her windows despite opposition from the confederacy's troops who were passing by. This famous event led quilters to make Barbara Fritche Star patterns as a star of faith. In this quilt, double feather shaped circles stitch embroideries were worked in white plain blocks. As you can see, one out of nine stars is different pattern from others. It means that human is imperfect toward god.
